A talented group of Invictus swimmers representing their various schools travelled to Dublin on 10/11th February to take part in the Irish Schools Swimming Championships.

In the individual events, swimmers Robert Allison and Kyle Mawhinney came a well placed 4th and 5th in the 100 Backstroke final, so close to the medals ! Laura Estler and Esmee Hall posted good times in the 100 Breaststroke while in his age group, John Coulter had a well-paced swim finishing just outside a finals place. In the 200 IM brothers Chris and John Coulter were strong with older brother John achieving 5th place in his age group. Young Esmee Hall and Alex Walker put in great times in the 100 Fly with both finishing in 4th place. In his favoured 100 Freestyle Matthew Walker had a steady swim but frustratingly finished just outside a finals place.

There was much success from the boys Relay teams with a victorious Methody team including Kourosh Abelehkoob and brothers Chris and John Coulter storming home to take Gold in the 200 Freestyle relay and also bagging a Bronze medal in the 200 Medley event.

For the home of Invictus Swim Club…R.B.A.I…a Silver medal was won in the 12-14 yr 200 Freestyle Relay! Inst Pupils Neil Saulters and Ben Thompson swam a cracking race and along with their team mates, stormed to the finish! The boys also finished 5th in the 200 Medley relay, a great result for these young swimmers.

With many well deserved pb’s and some fantastic swims the Invictus swimmers have a lot to be proud of. Well done everyone!
