The weekend of 27th April ’12 saw the start of three busy days of competition at the Dave Mc Cullagh Memorial Meet held in the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin. The gala took place much later this year and was bang in the middle of a hard training session for the Invictus swimmers so only a few athletes chose to compete in a select number of events.
Andy Hunter, Ashleigh Hyland, David Graham, David Thompson and Jemma Bingham all competed throughout the weekend with every member of the team qualifying for A & B finals. There were some fine performances in the Freestyle, Butterfly and IM events giving the swimmers a clear indication of what stage they are at in their training programme thus allowing them to develop those skills necessary to progress to the next level.
Now it’s back to balancing training with studying for some of the group who alongwith many of their fellow team mates at the club are just about to start a rigorous block of exams. We wish all the young swimmers the very best of luck in their studies and we look forward to some great performances in a few months time when the exams will indeed be nothing but a distant memory !
